Worsted / Aran Alpaca Yarn

Alpaca at worsted weight is the warm, soft sweater yarn: hollow fibers hold heat better than wool at the same weight, and there is no lanolin or scale to itch. It knits at 18–20 stitches to 4 inches on US 7–8 needles.

Pure alpaca has little memory, so a heavy garment grows; a wool blend such as Ultra Alpaca keeps its shape, and a lighter gauge than the ball band suggests helps a 100% alpaca pullover hang as it should.
