Chunky Yarn

Chunky weight knits at about 3–3½ stitches to the inch on US 10–11 needles. A hat is an evening's work and a cabled sweater a couple of weeks, and the fabric has the heft for outerwear.

Skeins run short — 100 to 140 yards to 100 g — so check the pattern's total yardage before you settle on a number of skeins.
